As you know the Israeli BDS activist Ronnie Barkan is coming to Prague to join us at the Solidarity March with Palestine this Sunday May 12 and he will take part in other events with us. So here comes another-one.

A heated debate on Israel, Palestine, Zionism, antisemitism, apartheid or democracy, October 7, Gaza genocide or a “security operation”, Israeli army, Hamas, Israeli arms industry and more.

Speakers:

Ronnie Barkan
is an Israeli dissident and co-founder of Boycott from Within. On Nakba Day 2022, Barkan was among seven Palestine Action activists who smashed up the Elbit Systems HQ in Bristol UK and caused significant damage. Two years later they were convicted and given a suspended sentence. Elbit is Israel’s largest arms manufacturer and is actively involved in the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Barkan has a long history of involvement in protests, direct action and refusal to military service, as well as BDS campaigning and lecturing around the world. His main focus, however, is in challenging the most effective Zionist propaganda which has had major success over the past seven decades via its use of Haaretz newspaper – Israel’s leading tool of propaganda. He was arrested multiple times for his activism.

David Bohbot
is an Israeli-born security expert with Czech citizenship, a former consultant of Israeli arms industry, lecturer and entrepreneur working on the security situation in the Middle East and the fight against terrorism. He is an active trainer in armed and unarmed close combat, shooting and Krav Maga. For more than 16 years he has been involved in security awareness in Czech schools, where he organizes seminars and Krav Maga courses for teachers and students. He is the founder and director of the non-governmental Center for Terrorism Research.

He has been a member of the Trikolora political party since November 2022. In the European Parliament elections in June 2024, he is running as a member of the Trikolora party on the 15th place of the candidate list of the coalition “SPD and Trikolora”.

He has served as rabbi of the Orthodox community of Bnei Israel since 2012.

Moderator

Jonathan Stein
is the Managing Editor of Project Syndicate, which provides original commentaries by statesmen, policymakers, thinkers, and activists to publications in more than 150 countries. Mr. Stein is also a longtime contributor and editor at the Economist Intelligence Unit. He has contributed to and edited numerous books on economics, politics, and law.
