O své zkušenosti z Palestiny bude hovořit španělská studentka Laura, která nyní studuje v Praze a v Palestině pracovala a žila osm měsíců. Jak sama říká, kdyby jí bylo prodlouženo vízum, zůstala by tam déle. Debata proběhne v angličtině, bude doplněna fotografiemi a videem a je příležitostí pro zájemce o cestu do Palestiny dozvědět se praktické informace k cestě, ale i k delšímu pobytu. Vstup zdarma. Laura promluví o své zkušenosti dobrovolnictví – s jakým cílem a představami do Palestiny jela a jaká pak byla situace přímo na místě. Jaké jsou možnosti dobrovolnické práce a jak kontaktovat příslušné organizace. Kterak splnit vízovou povinnost a jak se vypořádat s možnými obtížemi ze strany izraelských úřadů při cestě do Palestiny. A konečně, jak se vyrovnat s každodenní realitou okupace.
Laura rovněž popíše svou vlastní zkušenost s porušováním lidských práv na okupovaných územích – např. při násilném rozhánění demonstrací a protestů izraelskou armádou a pohraniční policií, situací na kontrolních stanovištích (checkpointech), nelegálním zadržování osob, omezování svobody pohybu apod. Situaci uvede na konkrétních případech lidí, které potkala a doplní ji fotografiemi.
Laura byla v Palestině na přelomu let 2013 a 2014 po dobu osmi měsíců, a to prostřednictvím evropské asociace zabývající se spoluprací s Palestinou, a spolupracovala se zpravodajským serverem Palestine News Network (PNN) a Centrem Lajee u uprchlickém táboře Aida v Betlémě. „Chtěla jsem v Palestině zůstat déle a pokračovat v dobrovolnické práci, nebylo mi však prodlouženo vízum a byla jsem izraelskými orgány vyzvána k opuštění země do deseti dnů,“ uvádí.
Debata je otevřená všem zájemcům o problematiku Palestiny.

Volunteering in Palestine: Personal Experience and Practical Tips, Thursday 4th of February at 7PM at café V lese (Prague)
You are cordially welcome to a talk about volunteering and travelling possibilities in Palestine, which will be given by our guest, Laura. Laura is a student from Spain studying now in Prague at Charles University. She spent 8 months working and living in Palestine and had her visa been extended, she would have stayed there longer. Her talk will be accompanied by photos and videos from Palestine. The event is in English only and takes place on Thursday 4th of February at 7PM at café V lese (Krymská 12, Prague – Vršovice). Laura will talk about her volunteering experience (what were her aims, how she contacted organizations, how she was facing the experience of occupation in comparison to what she had expected before going there when she knew only what she could find on the internet, in the media or in books). She will speak about volunteering possibilities and she will give information about places which are open to volunteers and how to find them. She will also talk about getting visa, interrogations of potential volunteers at the Israeli border and the difficulties one can find entering the country.
She will also talk about human rights violations she experienced in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (e.g. dispersal of non-violent protests by the Israeli army or border police; illegal detentions; lack of freedom of movement etc.). She will provide personal stories with specific examples of people she had met, and she will show photos and videos.
Laura will be glad if people participate during the speech.
Laura was in Palestine for eight months in 2013/2014, with the European Association in Cooperation with Palestine, Palestine News Network, and Lajee Center in Aida refugee camp in Bethlehem. “I wanted to continue my experience for several months but I got a rejection of visa extension and I was asked to leave the country within the next 10 days,” she says.
